Best for

  • Teams that need offline mobile access — Housecall Pro's app explicitly supports working without signal, which Jobber's equivalent page doesn't mention
  • Businesses that want multiple users from the start, since Essentials already includes 5 users at $149/mo

Not ideal for

  • Solo operators on a tight budget — Basic ($59/mo) starts noticeably higher than Jobber's entry tier ($29/mo)

Key features

  • Online booking, scheduling and dispatching (Basic, from $59/mo)
  • Quotes/proposals, invoices and payments, and job costing (Basic)
  • Review management and a built-in price book (Basic)
  • Routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports, employee GPS tracking and QuickBooks Online sync (Essentials, from $149/mo)
  • Sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization and open API access (Max, from $299/mo)
  • Offline mobile app mode (all tiers, per Housecall Pro's mobile app page)

Verdict

Based on Housecall Pro's published pricing and feature pages, it costs more than Jobber at the entry tier but includes multi-user support and offline mobile access earlier in its plan structure. We haven't used Housecall Pro hands-on yet, so this verdict is based on documentation, not our own testing — we'll update it once we have trial access.

  • Documented offline mode for the mobile app, for technicians working with poor signal
  • Essentials tier includes 5 users at $149/mo

Cons

  • No permanently free plan
  • Starting price ($59/mo) is higher than Jobber's entry tier ($29/mo) for one user
  • QuickBooks sync and GPS/route features require Essentials or above, not Basic

What each tier includes

From public documentation

According to Housecall Pro's pricing page, Basic ($59/mo, 1 user) covers online booking, invoices and payments, scheduling and dispatching, quotes and proposals, review management, a price book and job costing. Essentials ($149/mo, 5 users) adds routes, flat-rate pricing, checklist automations, photo reports and annotations, employee GPS tracking, commissions, and QuickBooks Online sync. Max ($299/mo, 8 users) adds a sales proposal tool, recurring service plans, route optimization, open API access, a dedicated onboarding specialist and escalated phone support.

Scheduling and dispatch

From public documentation

Scheduling and dispatching are included from the Basic tier. Housecall Pro's mobile-app page describes real-time schedule visibility and dispatch notifications for technicians — a stated capability, not something we've tested ourselves.

Estimates and invoicing

From public documentation

Quotes/proposals and invoices with payments are included from Basic. Housecall Pro's mobile-app page states technicians can build quotes from templates or custom estimates, process credit cards, checks and bank transfers on-site, take mobile check deposits, and send invoices with direct payment links.

Marketing and follow-up tools

From public documentation

Review management is listed as a Basic-tier feature on Housecall Pro's pricing page. Recurring service plans — useful for maintenance-agreement follow-up — are reserved for the top Max tier ($299/mo).

Mobile app

From public documentation

Per Housecall Pro's own mobile app page, the app includes a real-time job dashboard, built-in time tracking with clock in/out, on-site payment processing (cards, checks, bank transfers, mobile check deposit), and an offline mode that keeps scheduling and job information accessible without Wi-Fi or cell signal. The app supports English and Spanish with customizable office/field permissions.
